The Indiana Fever are officially playoff bound.

Indiana secured its spot in the 2026 WNBA Playoffs presented by Google Pixel on Friday night without even taking the court. The Fever clinched after the Portland Fire suffered an 82-79 loss to the Toronto Tempo

The postseason berth marks Indiana’s third consecutive playoff appearance and makes the Fever the fourth team to qualify for the 2026 WNBA postseason

A third straight postseason appearance

The Fever’s return to the playoffs continues a remarkable turnaround for the franchise.

Indiana has emerged as one of the WNBA’s most competitive teams over the past three seasons, and the 2026 campaign has been another step forward. The Fever entered Friday at 24-13, sitting fourth in the league standings and positioning themselves for a favorable postseason seed.

The team has been led by a dynamic core featuring Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston, with Indiana putting together a strong second half of the season.

Clark has been particularly impactful during the Fever’s surge, while Mitchell has provided consistent scoring and Boston has continued to anchor the frontcourt.

Portland’s loss opened the door

Indiana had a chance to clinch earlier in the week but fell to the Dallas Wings, 91-85, on Thursday.

That meant the Fever’s next opportunity depended on Portland.

The Fire entered Friday still fighting to remain in the playoff race, but Toronto erased that possibility with an 82-79 victory. Isabelle Harrison led the Tempo with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Toronto snapped a 12-game losing streak in the process.

For Indiana, the result meant one thing:

CLINCHED. 🎟️

Now the focus shifts to seeding

With a playoff spot secured, Indiana can turn its attention toward the final stretch of the regular season and improving its postseason position.

The Fever entered Saturday’s matchup with the New York Liberty sitting fourth in the standings.
